From 2024, we have a CHILDREN’S TABLE in Slovakia, which will help predict and estimate the amount of child support.
→ THE MAINTENANCE TABLE determines what percentage of the income of the obligated parent should be paid as the child support.
→ The table calculates according to the child´s AGE the basic/regular child support for a regular child in a given life stage – from preschool age to university age.
The cost of a child increases with age.
→ The table also takes into account the NUMBER of maintenance obligations of the parent.
The more children a parent has, the smaller share a particular child gets.
→ Example: If the father has only 1 child, a scholar in primary school entrusted to the mother, child support should be in the amount of 20% of his father´s net salary. But if this father has 2 children aged 6-9, each of them will receive 14%.
Courts and guardianship authorities, experts and the public – parents already have the table at their disposal – for easier determination of alimony in the parental agreement, in addition to Slovak Family Act.
→ Attention! THE TABLE IS NOT MANDATORY, it is a RECOMMENDATION and those numbers do not take into account the individual circumstances of the particular parents and the particular children, the special issues and aspects, special needs, etc that by the attorney´s services will be highlighted. It is still a useful tool, especially for parental agreements.
